Meet the Creator

I am Talibah Ometu, Dallas Native -- Harlem Grown. 

This hat and company were born from my creative passion and love for my children. When there are obstacles, I make a way.

Nearly every sunny day, I’d pick up my daughter from daycare and see she wasn’t wearing a sunhat. Providers said they didn’t fit over her afro puffs. Frustrated and determined I cut holes in her hats—then designed the Mighty Puff Hat.

Mighty Puff Hats are bucket hats for kids with big hair—afros, curls, puffs, braids, twists, locs, and poofy ponytails. They offer seamless, versatile sun protection and fit comfortably without compromising style.

For 7 years, I’ve perfected the materials, the lining, and the design—made for busy parents who want peace of mind in the summer sun.

The traditional sunhat has overlooked textured hair for too long. Now, there’s a better way: protective, inclusive, and joyful.
